The Pearl

The Pearl

Born from the ocean's quiet alchemy — The Pearl emerges as a residence where organic geometry and refined materiality compose a shelter of luminous serenity.

A residential project inspired by the pearl, distinguished by its elegant form.

Project Narrative

01Concept

Inspired by the iridescent geometry of a pearl, the residence was conceived as an organic form that emerges from its landscape rather than being imposed upon it. Every curve in the building's silhouette follows a logic derived from natural shell geometries.

02Design Process

Parametric modelling allowed the design team to test hundreds of curvature variations against structural performance and natural light penetration. The final form achieves an optimal balance between sculptural ambition and liveable proportions.

03Execution

The curved facades required custom formwork for each concrete pour. A material palette of polished plaster, travertine, and pale oak reinforces the sense of organic unity, while generous terraces at every level dissolve the boundary between interior and garden.

04Outcome

The Pearl stands as proof that residential architecture can be simultaneously expressive and serene. Its occupants live within a sculpture that responds to the passing of each day — catching light, casting shadow, and breathing with the landscape it inhabits.

The facade's curvature evokes the iridescent layers of a nacre shell.

The building's silhouette was derived from an exhaustive study of natural shell geometries. Rather than imposing form upon the landscape, the design allows the terrain to cradle the structure — its curved facades catching light differently throughout the day, much like the iridescence of a pearl held to the sun.

Interior volumes flow with an unbroken spatial continuity.

Inside, the spatial sequence unfolds like the chambers of a nautilus. Each room flows into the next through gentle curves rather than hard corners, creating a domestic landscape where movement feels intuitive and restful. The material palette — polished plaster, travertine, pale oak — reinforces this sense of organic unity.

Terraces extend the living space into the surrounding landscape.

Generous terraces at every level dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior. Deep overhangs provide shade in summer while admitting low winter light, a passive climate strategy that reduces energy demand without sacrificing the connection to sky and horizon that defines the experience of living in The Pearl.
