Project Narrative

The brief called for a building that could house living, working, and gathering under one roof without hierarchy. We began with the idea of a vertical village — stacked neighbourhoods connected by shared terraces and double-height voids that let daylight and social life flow between floors.

Extensive massing studies explored how to break the building's volume into human-scaled clusters. Computational daylight analysis ensured every unit receives natural light, while wind studies shaped the facade articulation to create sheltered outdoor spaces at every level.
The structural system employs a hybrid concrete-and-steel frame that permits column-free spans in the commercial podium while supporting the residential tower above. Precast facade panels with integrated shading fins give the building its distinctive rhythm.
MD Duhur demonstrates that density need not mean anonymity. Its interlocking programmes create a micro-urban ecosystem where residents, workers, and visitors coexist in a building that feels less like a tower and more like a living neighbourhood.
