Project Narrative

The client was a builder who wanted to live in a project he had constructed himself. The brief asked for an architecture that would showcase craft — every detail visible, every material honest, nothing hidden behind decorative cladding.

Construction was led by the client himself with our team detailing every junction. Stone-cutting was done on site with the tile pattern dry-laid before grouting, and the timber slats were milled to length so no joints would appear above eye level.

The completed villa is photographed with overcast lighting that flatters the stone's mineral colour. Inside, polished concrete floors and matching cabinet finishes maintain the same restrained material discipline as the exterior.

The project is now used as a calling card for both the construction company and our studio. Photography from the first year already shows how the timber will weather and the landscaping will mature into the architecture.
