Project Narrative
AFK Otomotiv required a facility that could house injection moulding, assembly, and quality testing under conditions of absolute cleanliness. The design organises these functions along a linear production flow, with support spaces running parallel to minimise cross-circulation.
Vibration analysis influenced the foundation design — sensitive measurement equipment demanded isolated slabs decoupled from the main structure. Air handling systems were zoned to maintain different pressure regimes across clean rooms and general production areas.
Steel portal frames with 24-metre spans provide clear manufacturing floors. The office wing, elevated above the factory entrance, features a double-skin facade that reduces solar gain while maintaining views over the Kocaeli industrial landscape.
The completed plant has exceeded production targets while providing working conditions that the client reports have improved staff retention. The building demonstrates that industrial architecture, when designed with care, directly contributes to business performance.
